Darryl Worley
b. 31 October 1964, Pyburn, Tennessee, USA. This country singer-songwriter made his breakthrough in 2002, when his second album I Miss My Friend reached the top of the US country charts. Worley was brought up in a strict Methodist family, and his decision to pursue a music career was reluctantly acceded to by his parents. He studied hard to complete a biology degree while learning his trade at local honky-tonk clubs. A brief stint as a teacher was relinquished when Worley signed a publishing contract with Fame in Muscle Shoals, and a recording contract with DreamWorks Nashville followed in 1999. Worley's debut recording Hard Rain Don't Last made a significant impact for a new artist, with several tracks reaching the country Top 20. Nevertheless, it was still a surprise when "I Miss My Friend", from the album of the same name, climbed to the top of the charts in summer 2002.
