Chappaquiddick Skyline
After recording alt-country with the Scud Mountain Boys and orchestral pop music with the Pernice Brothers, Chappaquiddick Skyline provided Joe Pernice with yet another outlet for his gloomy world-view. He was joined by Peyton Pinkerton (guitar) and Thom Monahan (bass) from the studio line-up of the Pernice Brothers, and touring musicians Laura Stein (keyboards) and Mike Belitsky (drums). From the first line of the opening track "Everyone Else Is Evolving" ("I hate my life, so many compromises"), through "The Two Of You Sleep" and "Theme To An Endless Bummer" the album plumbed new depths of despair. Brief respite was provided by a faithful cover version of New Order's "Leave Me Alone".
