Randy Meisner
b. 8 March 1946, Scottsbluff, Nebraska, USA. Meisner's musical career began in the early 60s as a member of local act, the Dynamics. He subsequently moved to Colorado, where he joined the Soul Survivors, later known as the Poor; but although this folk/country-rock act was active between 1964 and 1968, its recorded legacy was constrained to two singles. Meisner then became a founder member of Poco, but having played on Pickin' Up The Pieces, left following a disagreement to join ex-Poor alumni Allen Kemp and Pat Shanahan in Rick Nelson's Stone Canyon Band. In 1971, the bass player toured with Linda Ronstadt before joining fellow members Bernie Leadon, Glenn Frey and Don Henley in the Eagles. Meisner remained with this seminal act until 1977, when he left to pursue solo ambitions. The low-key I Really Want You Here Tonight was followed by the more successful One More Song, which spawned two US Top 30 hits in "Deep Inside My Heart" and "Hearts On Fire". "Never Been In Love" from Randy Meisner reached the same chart in 1982, but the artist then suspended his career. He re-emerged in 1989 when the original Poco line-up was reunited for Legacy, but former animosities quickly resurfaced. The following year, Meisner was involved along with James Griffin (ex-Bread) and Billy Swan in a new group, Black Tie, which enjoyed a hit on the country chart with a version of Buddy Holly's "Learning The Game". In 2002, he released an album with Swan and Allan Rich under the imaginitive moniker of Meisner, Swan And Rich.
