Killah Priest
b. Walter Reed, 16 August 1970, Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Bedford-Stuyvesant and Brownsville, Reed was inspired by neighbourhood rappers such as future Wu-Tang Clan member GZA and Onyx's Suav‚. Despite building up a formidable reputation of his own, Reed embarked on an educational sabbatical during which he immersed himself in an intensive study of religious history. As Killah Priest he recorded as part of the Sunz Of Man collective with fellow rappers Prodigal Sunn, 60 Second Assassin and Hell Razah, and appeared on several Wu-Tang Clan releases. Cameos on albums by the Gravediggaz and Ol' Dirty Bastard, and the 1996 AIDS charity album America Is Dying Slowly, were overshadowed by his contribution to GZA's excellent Liquid Swords. His association with GZA led to a recording contract with Geffen Records.
