Acid Jesus are based in Darmstadt, Germany, and consist of Roman Flugal and Jorn Elling-Wuttke who also record as Rebel Youth, Holy Garage, Playhouse and Primitive Painter. Elling-Wuttke is jointly responsible for running the highly regarded Delerium record store, and helps in-house labels such as Ongaku, Klangeltronik and Playhouse. Flugal is a classically trained pianist who occasionally drums for a jazz band. His partner once played in a rock band entitled the Sheets, who toured with the Wedding Present. Among their alter egos are, strangely enough, Alter Ego, who recorded an album of psychedelia-tinged material, promoted by the "Nude Restaurant" single, which was remixed by David Holmes and Black Dog Productions, both of whom also remixed Acid Jesus's "Move My Body", along with Derrick May. As Primitive Painter, meanwhile, they generally build songs around the 808 drum machine, and produce material influenced by Robert Owens, Fingers Inc and Felix Da Housecat.
