Maurizio
b. Moritz Von Oswald, Germany. Berlin-based DJ and recording artist who runs the Basic Channel label with fellow "techno archaeologist" Mark Ernestus. Von Oswald is famed for placing only a large M on the centre of his records, then pressing them in America so they are presumed to have emerged from Detroit. Cuts like "Domina" (1994) highlighted his experimental but accessible craft, while collaborations with genuine native Detroit man Carl Craig ("Mind") proffered further cult status. His affinity for dub basslines found a new outlet in the late 90s, when he began recording with Ernestus and a series of reggae vocalists under the Rhythm And Sound moniker.
