b. France. Tellier is from Paris' arty 17th Arrondissement, a stone's throw away from the Champs lys‚es. It was in this locale that he first began recording his emotive, cinematic music. The release of his debut single "Fantino" in 1999 on a Source label artist compilation received many plaudits, and was later used in the movie Lost In Translation. The single impressed labelmates Jean-BenoŒt Dunckel and Nicolas Godin (aka Air) so much that they signed Tellier to their label Record Makers. He made his album debut in 2001 with the critically acclaimed L'Incroyable V‚rit‚. The album was mixed by Quentin Dupieux aka Mr. Oizo, with Tellier playing most of the instruments in the studio. Boundary defying in terms of the styles and sounds used, the album's ethereal quality could be likened to classic Syd Barrett or Serge Gainsbourg.
