Pur
Comprising Hartmut Engler (vocals), Ingo Reidl (keyboards), Roland Bless (drums), Joe Crawford (bass) and Rudi Buttas (guitar), rock/pop band Pur were formed in Bitigheim, Baden-Wrttemberg, in the early 90s. Electing to sing in German rather than English, they have been at the forefront of a boom in German-language releases during a time when the German music industry has been in decline. Their 1995 album, Abenteuerland (Adventureland) rose to the top of the national charts in the autumn on the way to a million sales, confirming their domestic popularity by outselling international rock stars including Bon Jovi and the Rolling Stones. Its predecessor, Seilaenzertraum, was still on the charts, having stayed there for over 100 weeks with sales in excess of one and a half million.
