Euphoria
A typically grandiose US band from the era of progressive rock, Euphoria were formed at the end of the 60s by William D. Lincoln and Hamilton Wesley Watt Jnr. Their sole album, released on Capitol Records in 1969, was titled A Gift From Euphoria and featured a wide-ranging collection of country, psychedelic rock and folk moments, interspersed with ballads and neo-orchestral flourishes. The band, originally a quartet, was originally forged in Houston, Texas, USA, but like peers the 13th Floor Elevators and Big Brother And The Holding Company, they soon migrated to California's burgeoning rock music climate. Lincoln and Watt's debut single release was actually credited to the Word, before they embarked on the sessions that produced A Gift From Euphoria. Recorded in Nashville, London and Hollywood, the contents were evidently religiously inspired in places. However, despite the sumptuous nature of the results, and the obvious money invested on their behalf by Capitol, the album failed to sell and no further recordings by Euphoria were ever issued. Watt and Lincoln continued to work in Los Angeles as session musicians.
