Chilton first came to prominence as the singer for '60s soul-pop group the Boxtops. Later, he helped cement the enduring legacy of the short-lived power-pop icons Big Star. For the decades since he's recorded sporadic solo albums mixing eclectic cover tunes with his own skewed pop.
