Sander Kleinenberg
b. 1972, Almelo, the Netherlands. A rising star on the globe-trotting DJ/producer circuit, Kleinenberg's international profile was boosted enormously when his track "My Lexicon' appeared on Sasha's 1999 mix compilation, Global Underground 013 " Ibiza and Pete Tong signed the track to his Essential Recordings label. Kleinenberg caught the DJing bug at the age of 15, when he volunteered to perform at the school dance. His choice of career was initially rejected by his professionally-minded parents but by the time he was 18, he was playing nine-hour sets twice a week at a local club. This lead to a residency at a nearby club called Index in Shuttorf, just across the German border. His first single, "Free Frogs" was released on the influential Belgian label, Wonka. During the ensuing few years, Kleinenberg recorded tracks for various labels including Belgium's Global Grooves, Holland's Deal Records and the seminal New York house label, Strictly Rhythm Records. Kleinenberg's ambition to DJ at the famous Roxy club in Amsterdam was eventually realised in 1995. Now signed to the same agency as Sasha and based in London, Kleinenberg DJs at leading clubs all over the world and at major festivals such as Dance Valley in Holland and the UK's Homelands. His Four Seasons series of EPs have been widely acclaimed by fellow DJs and the dance music press for their beguiling blend of US house and complex, subtle trance. He has remixed tracks for artists including Oliver Lieb, Vincent De Moor, Destiny's Child, Art Of Noise and Junkie XL.
