Junior Jack
b. Vito Lucente, Italy. DJ Junior Jack has been residing in Brussels since his parents relocated to Belgium when he was a teenager. He was seduced by house music in the early 90s and graduated from club-going into production releasing tunes under the pseudonyms Kaf'‚, Hugh K and Mr. Jack and quickly gained underground recognition. He launched his own label Noisetraxx and attracted the services of a number of leading US remixers, notably Roger Sanchez and Erick Morillo. Lucente's first success under the name of Junior Jack was with "My Feeling" on the PIAS label. Released in 1999, the single entered the national charts in Europe, the USA and Australia, at a time when house music was apparently dying out. Two years later, the club classic, "Thrill Me", helped elevate Junior Jack into the top league of DJ/producers. He enjoyed even more success in early 2003 when "Make Luv", released under his Room 5 pseudonym, topped several European dance music charts and spent a month at number 1 on the UK mainstream chart. The same year saw the release of Junior Jack's Trust It, on which the DJ served up a dizzying mix of twisted disco, US garage, salsa house and electro. The album attracted the services of the Cure's Robert Smith, with the singer contributing vocals to the twisted electro/disco number "Da Hype". The track was released as a 12-inch single with arguably the best tune on the album, "Stupidisco", an infectious full-on house romp built around a sample from the Pointer Sisters' "Baby Make Your Move". Further demonstrating Junior Jack's mastery of dance styles, the album included a pulsating Detroit techno number, "Depression", in addition to the club classic, "E Samba".
