Kylie Minogue
Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue started out as an actress, working on the TV show NEIGHBOURS, whose UK popularity eventuated the young singer taking up with megapop production team Stock, Aitken & Waterman (who also made Rick Astley a success). With that titanic trio behind her, Kylie became the queen of the British pop charts, scoring hit after hit. Like Sheena Easton, she eventually changed her image from girl-next-door to sex-kitten and shortly thereafter became the paramour of INXS vocalist Michael Hutchence. Though Kylie reigned supreme in the UK, establishing a Madonna-like presence on records and in films, she never took off in America until her 2002 album FEVER finally made her a US dance-pop diva.
