Coco Lee
b. Ferren Lee-Kelly, 17 January 1975, Hong Kong. This R&B influenced pop singer was raised in San Francisco, California, USA. She entered the music industry within a year of leaving high school, discovering immediate commercial rewards in the process. Her break came during a graduation trip to Hong Kong, where she was entered in a local singing concert by her mother. Her rendition of Whitney Houston's "Run To You" won second place in the contest (there were 30,000 applicants) and a recording contract in 1994. Within a year and a half she had released some five Chinese language albums for the Fancy Pie label, becoming one of a growing number of US-based singers to achieve huge popularity within the Asian market. The success of these endeavours produced an eight-album contract with Sony Music Taiwan in the summer of 1996. Her high-profile work on several Jackie Chan movies and the Asian Mulan soundtrack confirmed Lee's status as a genuine superstar. As part of the big push to break her into the US market, Lee contributed "Before I Fall In Love" to the Runaway Bride soundtrack in 1999, and enlisted the help of several big name producers for the following year's stateside debut, Just No Other Way.

Wow, Coco has a great voice! Unfortunately I only have top 40 stations in my area so I never would have heard of her if not for Internet radio. I love her song "Do you want my Love".
