Los Tucanes de Tijuana
Formed at the start of the 90s, this Mexican norte¤o group initially featured four cousins, Mario Quintero Lara (vocals/guitar), Joel Higuera (vocal/accordion), Mario Moreno (bass) and David Servin (drums). These four musicians all come from Sinaloa state in northern Mexico, and it is from this region that the repertoire of the group is principally drawn. The love for this music in Mexico and a growing awareness of and appreciation for norte¤o in the USA, especially in the border states, has helped swell the group's audience. Los Tucanes De Tijuana recorded prolifically from the mid-90s and far from overwhelming their fans, their albums still sell well. Similarly, they have continued to attract audiences and show no sings of slowing down or of losing their appeal. In 2005, their El Virus Del Amor won a Latin Grammy as Best Group Album.
