Mick Goodrick
b. 9 June 1945, Sharon, Pennsylvania, USA. Along with many young people of his generation, Goodrick began playing guitar before entering his teens. Nevertheless, his musical interests lay in less predictable directions than those offered by contemporaneous pop, and he attended summer camp operated under the auspices of Stan Kenton. Goodrick studied at Berklee College Of Music, staying on as a tutor after graduating in 1967. In the 70s he played with numerous jazz artists of very different persuasions, among them Woody Herman, Alan Broadbent, Pat Metheny, Jack DeJohnette, Joe Williams and John Surman. In particular, he had a fruitful and important three-year musical relationship with Gary Burton that began in 1973.
