Texas Is The Reason
Emo (emotional hardcore) first came to the public's conscience during the mid-90s, when bands such as Braid and Sunny Day Real Estate sparked a buzz and paved the way for subsequent outfits such as Texas Is The Reason. Formed late in 1994 and hailing from New York, USA, the quartet were comprised of former members of other outfits, including Copper (singer/guitarist Garrett Klahn), Shelter (guitarist Norm Arenas), Fountainhead (bass player Scott Winegard), and 108 (drummer Chris Daly). Taking their name from the lyric of a Misfits song ("Bullet", a song about John F. Kennedy's assassination), the band signed to the US punk/hardcore label, Revelation, and issued a self-titled EP in 1995. A year later, an album followed, Do You Know Who You Are? (a phrase that was supposedly the last words John Lennon heard before he was murdered), that was produced by Jawbox's J. Robbins. Despite high hopes and countless accolades bestowed upon them, Texas Is The Reason broke up in 1997 (it was no secret that there was tension between its members). In the wake of their split, the members of Texas Is The Reason turned up in other bands, including New Rising Sons, Jets To Brazil, the Americans, and New End Original.

This band really needs more recognition, but oh well. They still rocked.
