Blindside
Similar in sound and style to melodic hard rock bands such as Incubus and P.O.D., the Stockholm, Sweden quartet Blindside has been performing since 1994, even though all four of its members, Christian Lindskog (vocals), Simon Grenehed (guitar), Tomas Naslund (bass), and Marcus Dahlstr”m (drums), have been friends even longer. Originally named Underfree, they eventually changed their name to Blindside just as interest was building around the band. The acclaim reached as far as the USA, which resulted in a recording contract with the Tooth & Nail label, and subsequent releases 1997's self-titled debut and 2000's A Thought Crushed My Mind. Blindside then signed with the major label Elektra Records, and issuing their third album, Silence, in 2002. Produced by Howard Benson (whose credits include Sepultura and Crazy Town, among others), the album left an impression on the US charts (reaching the Billboard Hot 100), as Blindside supported it by opening shows for Hoobastank and P.O.D.
