Madison Avenue
When mentioning Madison Avenue one song comes to mind - the infectiously catchy "Don't Call Me Baby", the lady-with-attitude song that sent them to the top of the singles charts in Europe and their native Australia in early 2000. The duo, comprising Andy Van (b. 3 November 1966) and Cheyne Coates (b. 6 September 1970), had in fact worked together previously in several guises. Van was a respected Melbourne DJ, a co-founder of the city's Vicious Vinyl imprint and a remixer in demand from artists such as Tina Arena. Coates also resided in Melbourne as a dancer and choreographer, turning to production and vocals rather by accident, as Van had another vocalist in mind for his new Madison project.
