Marc Dorsey
A slick US R&B singer whose style is clearly modelled on Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder, Dorsey finally released his solo debut in 1999. The singer had already made several appearances on Spike Lee soundtracks during the 90s. He was first heard singing "People Make The World Go Round' on 1994"s Crooklyn, and also contributed "People In Search Of A Life" and "Changes' to 1995"s Clockers, and "Welcome' to 1996"s Get On The Bus. "Crave", the title track to his debut album, appeared on the soundtrack to Rick Famuyiwa's The Wood. His debut set, recorded in New York with various producers and released on Jive Records in August 1999, echoed his soundtrack work with its blend of contemporary beats and smooth, old-style soul grooves.
