Hum
Formed in 1989 in Champaign, Illinois, the first stable line-up of this US alternative rock band comprised Matt Talbott (b. 27 June 1967, Geneseo, Illinois, USA; vocals/guitar), Andy Switzky (guitar), Balthazar "Baltie" De Lay (bass) and Bryan St. Pere (b. 2 April 1966, Evergreen Park, Illinois, USA; drums). Adhering rigidly to the principles of self-booked touring dates and independent releases, they steadily built an international following for their intelligent but caustic musicality and Talbott's engaging, oblique lyrics.
