Dangerous Toys
This group was formed by ex-Onyx members Scott Dalhover (guitar), Mike Watson (bass) and Mark Geary (drums) in Texas in 1987. With the recruitment of ex-Watchtower vocalist Jason McMaster, the band signed to CBS Records and debuted with a self-titled album in 1989. This revealed strong Guns N'Roses and Aerosmith influences, alongside their previous techno-thrash style. Shortly after the album was released, Danny Aaron was added as second guitarist to add greater flexibility on the road. They achieved minor successes in the US singles market with "Teas'n, Pleas'n" and "Scared", the latter a tribute to their idol Alice Cooper. Both reached number 1 on the MTV video chart. Collaborating with Desmond Child, they recorded "Demon Bell" for inclusion on the soundtrack to the horror movie Shocker, following which they supported the Cult and Bonham on a lengthy US west coast tour. Hellacious Acres produced further minor successes with "Gimme No Lip" and "Line 'Em Up". Aaron departed in 1992 to be replaced by Paul Lidel (ex-Dirty Looks) in time for the sessions that produced Pissed. This album, their first for Music For Nations subsidiary Bullet Proof, was recorded in exactly one month in Los Angeles.
