Richie Hawtin
The Canadian techno artist Richie Hawtin has recorded as Hard Trax, Jack Master, F.U.S.E, and, most often, as Plastikman. As a DJ, warehouse-party promoter, and, most notably, recording artist, Hawtin was a mainstay of Detroit techno's second wave in the early 1990s. His haunting, minor-key minimalism shifts from ambrosial lightness to barrages of noise, masterfully matched to danceable electronic beats. In addition to releasing records prolifically (on his own Plus 8, M_nus, and other IDM labels), he remained a much sought-after DJ for years.
