Part of Warp Records' stable of risk-taking techno artists, the British team of Ed Handley and Andy Turner create lush, thoughtful electronica that throbs with humanity and avant garde smarts. As Plaid, Handley and Turner made some well-received singles in the late 1980s, and later joined forces with Ken Downie to form the influential IDM unit Black Dog Productions. The duo split off from Downie in the mid '90s to refocus on Plaid, and in 1997 created what many believe to be their masterpiece, NOT FOR THREES. Plaid toured with Bjork and Orbital, exposing their music to an even wider audience, and in 2006 released the roundly acclaimed GREEDY BABY, a collaboration with visual artist Bob Jaroc.
