Bree Sharp
b. 17 December 1975, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. US artist Sheryl Crow left her mark on countless up-and-coming singer-songwriters with her brand of rootsy pop, as evidenced by the emergence of similarly styled musicians such as Bree Sharp during the late 90s. First picking up the guitar at the age of 15, Sharp eventually relocated to New York City (to attend NYU and to study with David Mamet's Atlantic Theater Company). After graduation, Sharp opted to stay in New York, where she continued to hone her singing and compositional skills. A recording contract with the Trauma label followed, resulting in the release of her debut in 1999, A Cheap And Evil Girl. Sharp spent the better part of 2000 touring in support of the release, including spots on both the Lilith Fair and MTV's Campus Invasion 2000. Although the album failed to break through commercially, it did receive favourable reviews from renowned US publications such as Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly, while the single "David Duchovny" (a tribute to the actor famous for The X Files) received some attention as well. Switching labels (to Ahimsa/Union), Sharp's follow-up album, More B.S., followed in 2002. This recording featured an up-tempo remake of Don Henley's 80s hit, "The Boys Of Summer".
