Formed by percussionist Douglas Scharin in the mid 1990s, Him is one of the most consistent and satisfying ensembles to sport the post-rock genre label. Although strains of free jazz, fusion, and Krautrock can be heard in the band's sound, Him is very heavily influenced by the deep bass and sparse, glacial production of vintage dub reggae as performed by the likes of King Tubby, Lee Perry, and Augustus Pablo.
