Mason Proffit
Led by brothers Terry and John Michael Talbot, country rockers Mason Proffit formed in Chicago, Illinois, USA, in 1969 from the ashes of bands called the Quinn Chords and Sounds Unlimited. The other members were Tim Ayres (bass), Ron Schuetter (guitar/vocals) and Art Nash (drums). Originally called Mason Proffit Reunion, the band recorded its first album, Wanted ..., in 1969 for Happy Tiger Records. Mixing country, folk, bluegrass and rock touches, the 1971 releases Movin' Toward Happiness and Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream both placed on the US album charts. Bruce "Creeper" Kurnow (keyboards/harmonica) replaced Schuetter on the band's Warner Brothers Records debut Rockfish Crossing, while Bill Cunningham was added to the line-up for the band's final album, Bare Back Rider.
