finetune artist: Soulwax

This Belgian rock band was formed in 1994 by brothers Stephen (b. 4 July 1970, Belgium; vocals, keyboards, percussion) and David Dewaele (b. 24 May 1975, Belgium; guitar), the offspring of well-known Belgian DJ Zaki. The brothers were initially joined in Soulwax by Stefaan Van Leuven (bass) and Piet Dierickx (drums). The quartet's four-track debut, 2nd Handsome Blues, was released in 1995 on the Play It Again Sam label, following which the band travelled to Los Angeles to record their hard-rocking debut album with Chris Goss of Masters Of Reality. After collaborating with Einstrzende Neubauten on their Ende Neu project, Soulwax returned to LA to record their second album with producer Dave Sardy. An eclectic mix of rock, funk, electronica and hip-hop, 1998's Much Against Everyone's Advice was a marked improvement on their debut and earned favourable comparisons with fellow Belgians dEUS. The Dewaele brothers were joined on the album by Van Leuven, Stephane Misseghers (drums) and Inge Flipts (keyboards). The Dewaeles are equally renowned for their DJing prowess, holding residencies in Antwerp, Amsterdam and London under the moniker the Flying Dewaele Brothers, and compiling the terrific 2 Many DJ's mix series.
