Tim Wilson
b. 5 August 1961, Columbus, Georgia, USA. Wilson showed signs of comic talent at school, mimicking his schoolteachers, and in his teens, and now playing guitar, decided on a showbusiness career. First intent on being a guitarist and singer he eventually drew on his gift for comedy. He became locally successful as a stand-up comedian in Georgia, gradually spreading his name and even appearing on nationwide television on Jay Leno's The Tonight Show. From 1990 he began incorporating songs into his act, which broadened his appeal still further. He had success with "Garth Brooks Ruined My Life", and began making a succession of comedy albums, mainly for Southern Tracks Records, which consolidated his reputation. Wilson's material has been performed by other artists, notably the co-written "The Redneck Twelve Days Of Christmas" by Jeff Foxworthy. His move to a major label (Capitol Nashville) in 1999 added to his stature. Another popular single was "The Ballad Of John Rocker", which came from the following year's Hillbilly Homeboy.
