Mac McAnally
b. Lyman McAnally Jnr., 1 July 1959, Belmont, Mississippi, USA. McAnally's early life is described in his US country hit song, "Back Where I Came From". Inspired by his mother's gospel piano playing, he started working in clubs from a young age, and eventually had a US pop hit in 1977 with "It's A Crazy World". His first album for Geffen Records featured the quaintly titled "E=MC Squared". Simple Life included harmonies from Tammy Wynette and Ricky Skaggs, but McAnally is better known for his songwriting, which, unusually for Nashville, he generally does on his own. He has written "It's My Job", "Back Where I Come From" (both Jimmy Buffett), "Two Dozen Roses" and "She's All I Got Going" (both Shenandoah), and the classic story-song, "Crime Of Passion" for Ricky Van Shelton. He wrote "Company Time" for Linda Davis and the amusing video showed an MCP receiving a public humiliation for his behaviour. McAnally is a respected producer and studio and record company owner. He is also a member of Buffett's Coral Reefer Band.
