Jimmie Vaughan
b. 20 March 1951, Dallas, Texas, USA. Vaughan began playing rock music as an adolescent and worked with several local bands, moving nearer to the blues with each one, finally establishing a formidable reputation as a guitar player. In 1968 he saw Muddy Waters, and from then on concentrated almost exclusively on blues. He moved to Austin, Texas, in 1970 and formed the Fabulous Thunderbirds in 1975. The band were often cited as one of the prime movers in the blues revival in 80s America, with Vaughan's stylish, pared-down and economical guitar a major factor in their success. He recorded on many sessions and left the Thunderbirds in 1990 to work with his brother Stevie Ray Vaughan, shortly before the latter's death. Vaughan went solo thereafter and has now built a solid career under his own name in addition to his work as co-executor of his late brother's estate.
