The Aluminum Group
Led by brothers Frank and John Navin (b. Chicago, Illinois, USA), the Aluminum Group specialize in the lush and elegant pop sounds of 60s/70s easy listening masters such as Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, and the Carpenters (especially evident in their use of string arrangements and laid back horn parts). Although other members are included in the Aluminum Group (including keyboard player Liz Conant, bass player Eddie Carlson, guitarist John Ridenour, and drummer John Blaha), its leaders are unquestionably John (vocals/guitar) and Frank Navin (vocals/keyboards), in addition to writing all the compositions. Formed during the mid-90s, the band issued their debut, Wonder Boy, on their own label in 1995 before signing a recording contract with the Minty Fresh label. Several releases soon followed, including studio sets, 1998's Plano and 1999's Pedals, as well as a reissue of their debut, re-titled Wonder Boy Plus. The Aluminum Group has remained active in the early twenty-first century, releasing further albums 2000's Pelo and 2002's Happyness.
