2nd Chapter of Acts
This Christian vocal group was first conceived in 1970 when siblings Matthew Ward (b. 1958, North Dakota, USA) and Nelly Ward went to live with their older sister Annie Ward and her husband Buck, following the untimely death of their parents. The young trio came to the attention of Pat Boone who arranged a recording contract with MGM Records. Now known as the 2nd Chapter Of Acts, the association with MGM was not a happy one and the Ward siblings moved on to a more fruitful partnership when they signed a contract in 1974 with the newly formed Christian label Myrrh Records. The trio recorded prolifically and toured their music ministry throughout America over the next 15 years. One of the first of the new wave of "Jesus music" groups, their recordings also enjoyed some success on the secular charts and helped pave the way for a host of similarly styled acts. Following their disbanding in 1988, Matthew Ward embarked on a successful solo career.
