Bob B. Soxx and The Blue Jeans
One of several groups created by producer Phil Spector, this short-lived trio comprised two members of the Blossoms, Darlene Love (b. Darlene Wright, 26 July 1938, Los Angeles, California, USA) and Fanita James, and soul singer Bobby Sheen (b. 1943, St. Louis, Missouri, USA, d. 23 November 2000, Los Angeles, California, USA). The Blue Jeans scored a US Top 10 hit in 1962 with a radical reading of "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah", wherein the euphoric original was slowed to a snail-like pace. Its success spawned an album which mixed restructured standards ("The White Cliffs Of Dover", "This Land Is Your Land") with original songs, of which "Why Do Lovers Break Each Other's Heart?" and "Not Too Young To Get Married" were also issued as singles. The trio also made a contribution to the legendary Phil Spector's Christmas Album.
