Re-Flex
One of the less celebrated members of the UK's early 80s New Romantic movement, Re-Flex featured Paul Fishman (keyboards), John Baxter (vocals), Nigel Ross-Scott (bass) and Roland Vaughan Kerridge (drums). The group enjoyed its only major hit in January 1984 when "The Politics Of Dancing" reached number 18 in the UK charts. The same single had earlier proved popular in the US charts. It was America that kept the group afloat for the next few years: while three further singles failed to reach the UK charts, Re-Flex featured on the soundtrack to the US exploitation film Breakdance and were opening act on the Police's Synchronicity stadium tour of 1985. However, following the unsuccessful release of Humanication in 1985 and amid rumours of interference by record label EMI Records, the group broke up. Fishman became a writer and producer for ZTT Records and has subsequently written two ballets. In the mid-90s he revealed plans for a solo album. Baxter's earlier solo career had failed and he now manages Date With Dizzy. Kerridge worked with artists including Del Amitri, A-Ha and Morrissey. He is currently part of Gilbert O'Sullivan's backing band. Ross-Scott delivers traffic advice for Home Counties Radio and also presented MTV Europe for two years.
