Godhead
A gothic, Marilyn Manson-influenced industrial band from Washington, DC, USA comprising Jason Miller (vocals/guitar), The Method (b. Ullrich Hepperlin; bass), Mike Miller (guitar) and James O'Connor (drums), Godhead formed in 1995 and built a local fanbase supporting bands such as GWAR, Christian Death and the Genitorturers. It was a long struggle: in the absence of major-label interest, the band released three independent albums: Godhead (1995), Nothingness (1996) and Power Tool Stigmata (1998). Godhead's unusual appearance (Miller sports a shaved scalp and covers his head with white corpse-paint, for example) and eclectic mix of influences (David Bowie is a prime inspiration) finally led them to Marilyn Manson, who signed them to his Posthuman label. 2000 Years Of Human Error was executive-produced by Manson and produced by Danny Saber, with assistance by Bowie's touring guitarist Reeves Gabrels. Its stand-out track was a cover version of the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby", which saw some chart success in 2001. Their most recent recordings have continued to be more commercial, notably The Shadow Line in 2006.
