Danny Breaks
b. Daniel Whidett, England. Breaks is a veteran DJ/producer of the UK breakbeat genre, emerging from the drum 'n' bass scene in the late 80s. Whidett's early involvement in music was working in the Boogie Times record store in Romford, Essex, the home of Dan Donnelly's highly influential Suburban Base hardcore and drum 'n' bass label. His debut release, "Far Out", appeared as Son'z Of A Loop Da Loop Era broke into the UK Top 40 singles chart and subsequent releases under the moniker were also successful, including "High Up", "Peace + Loveism", and "Style Warz". Flowers In My Garden was released in the UK in 1992. It is considered by many to be the first drum 'n' bass album and successfully fused influences from hardcore, hip-hop and turntablism. Breaks established his own label, Droppin Science, in 1993 primarily for his own releases but also for artists such as Dylan, Facs and Use Of Weapons.
