The Cascades
Formed in the late 50s in San Diego, California, USA, the Cascades were best known for their 1963 number 3 US hit, "Rhythm Of The Rain". The group consisted of John Gummoe (vocals, guitar), Eddy Snyder (piano), Dave Stevens (bass), Dave Wilson (saxophone) and Dave Zabo (drums). They were discovered at a club called the Peppermint Stick in 1962 and signed to Valiant Records. Their first single, "Second Chance", failed but "Rhythm Of The Rain" became a soft-rock classic that still receives radio airplay in the 90s. One other chart single for Valiant and one for RCA Records charted but the group was unable to repeat its main success. Two more albums recorded in the late 60s did not revive the group's fortunes. They disbanded in 1969, with only one original member remaining at that time.
