Dale & Grace
This distinctive R&B-orientated pop vocal duo comprised Dale Houston (b. 23 April 1940, Seminary, Mississippi, USA, d. 27 September 2007, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA), and Grace Broussard (b. Prairieville, Louisiana, USA). Both singers had sung solo and Grace had also sang with her brother Van Broussard (later of soul duo Van And Titus) before they teamed up at a recording session for the local Montel label in 1963. Their first recording, a revival of Don And Dewey's ballad "I'm Leaving It Up To You", found success in the south and soon went to number 1 in the US charts and narrowly missed the UK Top 40. The duo also put their follow-up "Stop And Think It Over" into the US Top 10 and had a minor hit with "The Loneliest Night". Their debut album also made the US Top 100. The duo split up in 1965, leaving Houston to recruit new "Grace" Connie Sattenfield for a series of unsuccessful releases on Guyden and Hanna-Barbera.
