Linda Scott
b. Linda Joy Sampson, 1 June 1945, Queens, New York, USA. Linda Scott recorded 11 US Top 100 singles in the early 60s, including two Top 10 hits. She began singing in 1959, releasing her first single for Epic Records and appearing on the Arthur Godfrey radio show. In 1961, she signed with Canadian-American Records and recorded a remake of a song from the 1932 musical Music In The Air, "I've Told Every Little Star", which reached number 3. She continued recording older material and repeated her first success with the follow-up "Don't Bet Money Honey" also in 1961. Later singles also drew from films and stage music. Scott released four albums for Canadian-America, Congress and Kapp Records, and toured as part of the Dick Clark "Caravan of Stars" road show. Clark later hired her as co-host of the syndicated rock television show Where The Action Is in the mid-60s, by which time her chart success had ended. She left showbusiness in 1973 to devote time to raising a family.
