Jigsaw
Barrie Bernard (b. 27 November 1944, Coventry, Midlands, England; bass), Tony Campbell (b. 24 June 1944, Rugby, Midlands, England; guitar), Des Dyer (b. 22 May 1948, Rugby, Midlands, England; vocals/drums) and Clive Scott (b. 24 February 1945, Coventry, Midlands, England; keyboards/vocals) became Jigsaw in 1966. Bernard came from Pinkerton's Assorted Colours, while Campbell had previously played in the Mighty Avengers. Scott and Dyer were a successful songwriting team - Engelbert Humperdinck covered their material - but it took the band nine years and 13 singles before their big worldwide hit, 1975's "Sky High". It was the theme to The Man From Hong Kong, and was the first release on the band's own label Splash. It was number 1 twice in Japan, thanks to a popular wrestler adopting it as his theme tune. Jigsaw enjoyed continuing success there, but elsewhere their star shone less brightly and in 1977 "If I Have To Go Away" only reached number 36 in the UK.
