Supersax
Formed in Los Angeles, California, USA in 1971 by Buddy Clark and Med Flory, Supersax's original purpose was to recreate the music of Charlie Parker through sparkling orchestrations of Parker's solos scored for a five-piece saxophone section. The original saxophone line-up comprised Flory, Bill Perkins, Jack Nimitz, Warne Marsh and Jay Migliori with trumpeter Conte Candoli and a rhythm section of Ronnell Bright (piano), Clark, and Jake Hanna. Clark left the band in the mid-70s and other changes took place but under Flory's direction they continued to make club appearances in Los Angeles and to record into the late 80s.
