Jackie McLean
Saxophonist Jackie McLean's changing styles mirror those of post-war jazz; after beginning in the late '40s as one of Bird's most fervent disciples, he became a charter member of the hard-bop fraternity with Art Blakey, but he was also capable of absorbing the changes wrought by Coltrane in the '60s. His stinging, acidic attack is as unmistakeable as any in jazz.
