Tom T. Hall
Tom T. Hall was enormously successful on the country music scene of the '60s and '70s thanks to his unique songwriting style. He mated simple melodies to a narrative lyrical approach more akin to short story writers like O. Henry than to any other country artists. By the '80s his output and performance schedule slowed, but he remained active into the 21st century.
