A trio of techno producers from Hamburg, Germany, Scooter comprises H.P. Baxxter (b. Hans-Peter Geerdes, 16 March 1966, Leer, Germany), Rick Jordan (b. Hendrik Stadler, 1 January 1968, Hannover, Germany) and Jay Frog. Axel Coon (b. 23 March 1975, Germany) replaced Ferris Bueller (b. Sren Bhler, 29 September 1971, Germany) in 1997 before Frog replaced Coon in February 2002. Baxxter and Jordan had enjoyed some success in the late 80s as Celebrate The Nun, releasing a number of successful club singles. Before that, they had worked with producer Jens Thele as the remix team Loop!. Scooter formed in the mid-90s and sought to recapture the energy and excitement of the rave scene of the late 80s and early 90s. Several singles were released before "Hyper Hyper" became a huge hit all over Europe in 1994, selling 700,000 copies in Germany alone and reaching number 2 in the German charts. The subsequent singles "Move Your Ass!", "Friends" and "Endless Summer" all reached the Top 5 in Germany and achieved varying degrees of success around Europe. In December 1995, "Back In The UK" provided the trio with their first UK hit, reaching number 18. In June 1996, Scooter released a cover version of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell". The same year's "I'm Raving" was something of a departure for the trio, running at 138 beats per minute in contrast to their usual 160 to 190 beats per minute.
