finetune artist: Maire Brennan

b. Marie N¡ Bhraon in, 4 August 1952, Eire. Harpist/vocalist Brennan is best known for her work with Clannad, but has also enjoyed a successful solo career as a contemporary Christian artist. Her 1992 debut M ire did not stray too far from the Clannad/Enya blueprint, mixing African-style rhythms, walls of synthesisers, and cascading vocal effects to create an ethereal, magical sound. The stand-out track was "Or¢', a lullaby for Brennan's three month old daughter Aisling who was featured on the album's cover. The album also featured songs co-written by Brennan and her husband, photographer/songwriter Tim Jarvis. The following year Brennan appeared on Robert Plant's Fate Of Nations and recorded Banba with Clannad. Donal Lunny was retained as producer for 1994"s Misty Eyed Adventures, which included an excellent cover version of Clannad's "Eirigh Suas A Stoirin". Brennan's recordings for Word/Epic in the late 90s, Perfect Time and Whisper To The Wild Water, matched lush musical backdrops with overtly religious lyrics celebrating her Christian faith. Both albums became fixtures on the new age charts and enjoyed substantial transatlantic sales. In 1999, Brennan added new vocals to Chicane's UK Top 10 single "Saltwater", a reworking of Clannad's 1982 hit "Theme From Harry's Game".
