Inventive and productive, Steve Roach has been performing and recording his desert-inspired electronic music since the early 1980s. He blossomed as a composer and a world-music force with 1988's DREAMTIME RETURN, a visionary work meant to convey, expressionistically, the Australian aborigine experience, using both sampled indigenous instruments and imaginative synthesizer-generated sounds. He has released over 20 albums as a solo artist and collaborator, each of which bears his trademark fusion of exotic acoustic instruments, tribal percussion, and mesmerizing electronica. He has also procuced records for likeminded artists, such as West African songwriter Takadja and South American traditionalist Jorge Reyes.
