Bob Welch
b. Robert Welch, 31 July 1946, Los Angeles, California, USA. Singer-songwriter Welch, the son of a movie producer and an actress, was raised in Hollywood. After studying as a French major at UCLA, Welch joined the R&B band Ivory Hudson And The Harlequins, who later changed their name to Seven Souls before breaking up in 1969 after failing to secure a recording contract. Welch was working in a Parisian R&B club in 1971 when he received an invitation to join Fleetwood Mac as their guitar player. He remained a member until December 1974 when the pressures of keeping the band afloat during its most turbulent era proved too great. During his stay he was quite prolific as a songwriter and wrote among others, the excellent "Sentimental Lady" for their Bare Trees and was credited with most of the material for Heroes Are Hard To Find.
