b. Everton Dennis Williams, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies. The 90s saw a revival of the popularity of conscientious dancehall singers, notably Garnett Silk, with whom Blender initially performed on the Destiny Outernational Sound System, and Luciano. Blender began performing in the mid-80s, inspired by Sugar Minott, Dennis Brown and Tenor Saw. He initially performed as Bubbaroo, cultivating his vocal skills and subsidizing his developing career through various postings in and around Clarendon. Blender was introduced to Richard "Bello" Bell who produced his debut, "Create A Sound", in 1993, followed by "Ethiopia Calling" in combination with Kulcha Knox, "Ghetto Youths", "Family Man" and, over a dub version of the popular Sleng Teng rhythm, "Man Is Unjust". At the 1993 Reggae Sunsplash Festival he preceded his long-time sparring partner Garnett Silk on the same stage. Both artists demonstrated that they had a promising future, although regrettably Silk's was curtailed owing to his untimely demise.
