The Police
Their innovative rock/reggae fusion, superb songwriting, and crossover appeal put the Police light-years ahead of many of their 1980s new-wave colleagues in terms of artistic resonance. Emerging just after the punk explosion of the late '70s, the trio rode to international stardom on a string of hit singles, and when they reached the top, they called it a day. Charismatic frontman Sting (aka Gordon Sumner) remains a pop icon whose appeal shows no sign of waning; members Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers also went on to successful, though less high-profile, solo careers.

This group had a really unique sound, my first introduction to the sound of Reggae. A bit strange that white boys would be playing this sound of music. But their careers, really took off with the release of the "synchronicity" album. Individually, they are three musically talented separate craftsman. And Sting went on to greater musical plattutes. Favorite songs are "Roxanne", despite Eddie Murphy's oponion. "Don't Stand So Close To Me", "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic", and "Invisible Sun". -

The greatest band from the early 80's. If you were in highschool back in the day then the police were IT. I'm so glad after 25 years that they are BACK . AWESOME DUDE!
